Overview
To support Travis Perkins in showcasing their extensive brick range, we designed and machined a compact, high-capacity display stand — known internally as the “Brick Library.” The goal was to create a durable, space-efficient solution capable of holding dozens of full-size brick samples in a clean, organized layout.
Design Highlights
- Material Choice:
- Constructed entirely from birch plywood, chosen for its strength, stability, and ability to bear the weight of multiple bricks without flexing or fatigue.
- Slot Layout:
- The stand features a 9×9 grid, precisely CNC-machined to hold 81 individual bricks.
- Each slot is sized just wide and deep enough to cradle a brick securely, minimizing wasted space while maximizing sample density.
- Structural Integrity:
- All components were designed with interlocking joints, ensuring a rigid, self-supporting structure without the need for metal fixings or adhesives.
- The narrow footprint allows the stand to fit comfortably in tight retail spaces while still offering full visibility of each sample.
In-Store Impact
These displays are providing customers with a tactile, visual way to compare brick textures, colours, and finishes.
The modular grid layout makes it easy to update or swap samples as product lines evolve.
Benefits
- ✅ High Capacity in Minimal Space: 81 samples in a single compact unit.
- ✅ Durable & Stable: Birch ply construction handles heavy loads with ease.
- ✅ Clean Presentation: Uniform slot layout and natural wood finish elevate the showroom experience.
- ✅ Tool-Free Assembly: Interlocking design simplifies transport and setup.
Would you like help creating a visual diagram or exploded view to show the slot layout and interlocking structure? I can also help format this for social media or turn it into a downloadable PDF for client presentations.
